IMPLANT DENTISTRY

IMPLANT PLACEMENT AND RESTORATION

One of the most important developments in modern dentistry has been the ability to replace missing teeth using titanium implants placed directly into the jawbone. The bone bonds with the titanium creating a strong foundation for artificial teeth. In addition, implants can help preserve facial structure by preventing the bone deterioration which occurs when teeth are missing. From one tooth up to a whole arch, or simply to stabilise a moving denture, implant dentistry can offer a successful alternative to many restorative problems. If you have lost teeth you can regain the ability to eat virtually anything and smile with confidence, knowing that teeth appear natural and that facial contours will be preserved. The security and comfort of a fixed restoration which looks, feels and functions like real teeth cannot be over-emphasised.

You will find the latest in state of the art implantation and you will know you will be getting the best.Mini Dental Implants (MDI's) from IMTEC Corporation of the USA are now also a reality. Our expertise in providing these treatments encompasses all aspects of your care, from initial diagnosis and discussion of options available, through to implant placement and final delivery of restorations.

We are one of the few dental practices on the South Coast to offer full in house rehabilitation with dental implants. While most dental practices refer patients away for the actual surgical insertion of implants and only do the restorative phase of implant treatment, our team at Contemporary Smiles is fully trained, accredited and equipped for implant surgery as well as restoration in several of the leading implant systems on the market.

There is a distinct advantage in having both the surgery and the restoration carried out by the same professional. Specifically, the same dentist doing both the surgery and the restoration has a vested interest in the successful outcome of not only the surgery but of the final restoration as well.

Before we undertake implant treatment, some of the factors that we look at - besides your general and oral health - are available spaces, the quantity and quality of bone, as well as aesthetic considerations. We need study models of your teeth, as well as panoramic and intra oral radiographs of your teeth and jaws ... sometimes we may order a CT scan as well.
